Walker Jackson taught AP and College Preparatory English at Kinnelon High School for over a decade. In 2011, Mr. Jackson moved on to teach literature and journalism at the college level and to open Jackson Private Tutoring. Specializing in college preparatory pedagogy, American Literature, and the SAT, the ACT, and the GRE, Mr. Jackson has fine-tuned his teaching of writing, critical reading, and grammar.

Mr. Jackson wrote his Doctoral Thesis on Herman Melville’s classic Moby-Dick, published at Duke U in 2007. He is also a frequent contributor to English Journal.

A recipient of the Geraldine Dodge Award for Innovative Teaching in 2003, a Fulbright Teacher Award in 2005, and an Outward Bound Teaching Grant in 2006, Mr. Jackson successfully seeks to push the boundaries of traditional teaching methodologies.

Mr. James Jarrell has spent decades in the classroom. Most recently an AP Calculus and Physics teacher at Mountain Lakes High School, Mr. Jarrell is widely known for his ability to teach even the most complex math in accessible ways.


Both Mr. Jackson and Mr. Jarrell bring decades of experience to our small student-based courses.  With a maximum of twelve students, our classes thrive with individual attention. From the PSAT to the college acceptance letter, we are here for you.
